1.1 - IBM Informix Dynamic Server Installation

The following procedures are for installing the IBM-Informix Dynamic Server software (Version 14.10):
1.1.01 - Install IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 14.10
Step 1: Access the “International Informix Users Group” website with the following URL:
https://www.iiug.org/en/2019/05/31/free-informix-database-engines/
Step 2: Scroll to the “Download:” portion of the website and select the following URL:
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/im/informix/
Step 3: This will display the following webpage. Select “Get the free developer edition” option:
Step 4: This will display the following webpage. You will then need to register your company with IBM by completing the following information:
Step 5: Once registered with IBM, access the Download page, and select the following option on Page 2, followed by “Continue” to proceed with the software download process:
Step 6: Once the download of the “ibm.ids.14.10.FC8.WIN.zip” file is complete, place the file in the following folder:
“GlobalEdge > deployment > IBM-Informix > ibm.ids.14.10.FC8.WIN”
Step 7: The next step is to extract the contents of the “ibm.ids.14.10.FC8.WIN.zip” file to the following folder:
Step 8: Once the file extraction process is complete, the following is displayed:
Step 9: Double click on “ibm.ids.14.10.FC8.WIN” to access the following folder. Double click on “ids_install.exe” to initiate the software installation process:
Step 10: This will display the following screen:
Step 11: Select “Next” option to display the following screen:
Step 12: Select “Next” option after selecting “I accept the terms in the license agreement”, which will then display the following screen:
Step 13: Accept the location for software installation and select “Next” option to display the following screen:
Step 14: Select “Custom installation” followed by “Next” option to display the following screen:
Step 15: Scroll down to the “Administrative utilities” and unselect the “JSON Client Support” option, then select the “Next” option:
Step 16: Accept the default values on the screen below and select the “Next” option:
Step 17: Accept the default value of “User informix account” and select the “Next” option:
Step 18: Select the “Create a server instance” option and enter Instance name: “ol_informix_ge”, and select the “Initialize server instance after creation” and “Modify Default Configuration Parameters” options. Then select “Next” option to proceed:
Step 19: The next screen will either prompt you to create a password for the user “informix” or enter a previously defined password. We recommend the password “informix” (ldcinf456#) where security is not a major issue. After creating or entering a password, select “Next” option to proceed:
Step 20: The next screen will prompt you to enter “Data space allocation:”. We recommend entering 5000 (MB) data space allocation, then select “Next” option to proceed:
Step 21: The next screen will prompt you to enter “Allocate processors to the database server:”. We recommend entering “2 Processors”. You are also prompted allocating memory to the database server which we recommend “1024 (MB)” data server memory, then select “Next” option to proceed:
Step 22: The next screen will prompt you to enter the following default values, then select “Next” option to proceed:
Step 23: The next screen will prompt you to enter the following values. Be sure to enter “Service name:” of “ol_informix_ge” and leave the default “Port:” and “Instance server number” as is. Select “Next” to proceed:
Step 24: The next screen will prompt for “Select Backup method to use”, leave the default settings and select “Next” to proceed:
Step 25: The next screen will prompt to confirm “Instance configuration” and select “Yes - Acceptable” to proceed:
Step 26: The next screen will prompt to confirm “Configuration Details” and select “No” followed by “Next” to proceed:
Step 27: The next screen will display the “Installation Summary” and select “Install” to proceed:
Step 28: As the software installation process takes place, the following message is displayed:
Step 29: The following screen is displayed during the software installation process. Select the “Next” option to proceed:
Step 30: The following screen is displayed during the software installation process. Select “No” followed by the “Next” option to proceed:
Step 31: The following screen is displayed during the software installation process. Select the “Next” option to proceed:
Step 32: Once the software installation process is complete, the following screen is displayed. Select the “Done” option to complete the software installation process:
