1.4 - Install Global Edge Software
Global Edge® Engineering Assistant includes several software components that includes Four Js Genero Run-Time software, Engineering Assistant Software Module, and SolidWorks CAD Interface Software Module.
1.4.01 - Install Genero Run-Time Software
Step 1: Access the following folder:
“GlobalEdge > deployment > FourJs-Genero > Genero-3.20 > DesktopClient-GDC > fjs-gdc-3.20.09-build201910181616-w64v141.exe”
“GlobalEdge > deployment > FourJs-Genero > Genero-3.20 > DesktopClient-GDC > fjs-gdc-3.20.09-build201910181616-w64v141.exe”
Step 2: Double click on “fjs-gdc-3.20.09-build201910181616-w64v141.exe”:
Step 3: Select “Next” option on following screen:
Step 4: When the following screen form appears, check the “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” box, then select the “Next” option:
Step 5: When the following screen form appears, check the “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” box, then select the “Next” option:
Step 6: When the following screen form appears, select the “Next” option to create the default Destination Folder:
Step 7: When the following screen form appears, select the “Next” option to select the default Start Menu Folder:
Step 8: When the following screen form appears, select the “Next” option to continue:
Step 9: When the following screen form appears, select the “Install” option to install the software:
Step 10: When the software is finished installing, select the “Finish” option:
Step 11: With Windows File Explorer access the “C:\GlobalEdge\Images” folder and copy the file “GlobalEdgeMenu.bmp” file to the “C:\Program Files\FourJs\gdc\pics” folder:
Step 12: With Windows File Explorer access the “C:\Program Files\FourJs\gdc\bin” folder and highlight the file “gdc.exe” file, right-click and create desktop shortcut:
Step 13: Right-Click on “Genero 3.10 Desktop Client” (Global Edge) icon and select “Properties”:
Step 14: Add an “ -a” to the end of the Target “C:\Program Files\FourJs\gdc\bin\gdc.exe” path (be sure to include a space before minus sign), then click “OK”:
Step 15: Double-Click “Global Edge” icon on the Desktop and select the “New” option on the following screen:
Step 16: Enter “SERVER-NAME” into the “Shortcut name” field, then select “Next” option:
Step 17: Enter Host information Name “SERVER-IP-Address” followed by Command “@FGL;gldc”, then select the “Next” option:
Step 18: Select “SSH 2” for Terminal Protocol and select “XTerm R6” for Terminal options, then select the “Next” option:
Step 19: Select “Automatic” option for Port forwarding, options, then select the “Next” option:
Step 20: Enter the following values for Authentication method “Standard” and for User enter “ldc (login name)”, then select the “Next” option:
Step 21: Leave default values on Terminal strings options, then select the “Next” option:
Step 22: Leave default values on Fgltty Configuration options, then select the “Finish” option:
Step 23: Select the “SERVER-NAME” Shortcut Name on the Genero Desktop Client screen and select the “Start” option:
Step 24: Enter the User name and Password that was assigned to the user and select the “OK” option:
Step 25: This will display the MAIN MENU:
1.4.02 - Install Engineering Assistant Software Module
Step 1: Access the folder “C:\GlobalEdge\GlobalEdgeDoc” and highlight the file “GlobalEdgeDoc.exe”:
Step 2: Right-Click and create a Shortcut and place it on your Desktop and rename it “Global Edge Engineering Assistant”:
1.4.03 - Install SolidWorks CAD Interface Software Module
Step 1: In the Deployment folder on the Global Edge server browse to the following directory (substitute the driver letter of your mapped Global Edge with the “C” in this example):
Step 2: Click on “SolidWorks_Install.cmd” file to install the SolidWorks CAD Interface software, which will display the following screen:
Step 3: The next step is to register the SolidWorks CAD Interface Add-In software. Browse to the following folder on your “C” drive and click on “SolidWorks_Register.cmd” file to register the SolidWorks CAD Interface Add-In software:
Step 4: Launch SolidWorks, then access the Tools menu and select the “Tools Add-Ins” option to display the following screen and select “GlobalEdgeCAD_SLD” in the “Other Add-ins” section followed by selecting “OK”:
Step 5: Select the “Tools > Global Edge > Setup” option to display the below screen. Check “DXF Files” under “Export Options”. Select “Sales Location” option and browse to “Sales” folder, followed by selecting “Save” option:
