2.5 - Machine Tool / Bend Process Setup
Global Edge® Engineering Assistant software has the capability of defining machine tools and bending processes for the purpose of quoting, manufacturability testing, and shop floor data preparation. This section includes the setup of the following database tables:

- This section includes the procedures for setting up Bend Processes and Tooling that are utilized throughout the Global Edge system. This section is divided into the following sub-sections:

2.5.01 - Machine Tools / Parameters
Step 1: The first step is to open the Global Edge® Engineering Assistant software by clicking on the following desktop icon:
Step 2: This will display the following screen form and menu options:
Step 3: Select “Manufacturing > Work Center Machines” to display the following screen form and menu options:
Step 4: Select “Find > Machine” and select ASSET #: “1003”:

Step 5: Select “Parameters” option to display following screen form and menu options:

2.5.01.03 – Machine Process (T-378) TableThis section provides functionality to attach Manufacturing Processes that were defined in Section 2.2.01 – Manufacturing Processes and attach them to specific Machine Tools defined in Section 2.5.01.01 – Fixed Assets.

2.5.01.04 – Machine Process Material (T-370) TableThis section provides functionality to maintain a list of materials that are defined in Section 2.1.02.07 – Materials and attach them to a specific Machine Tool Process defined in Section 2.5.01.03 – Machine Process.
Step 7: Select “Update” option and select “LASER-CUT“ followed by “OK” to display the following screen form and menu options:

2.5.01.05 – Machine Material Sheet Cut (T-377) TableThis section provides functionality to maintain Laser Cut Speeds per material and machine tool. This allows you to automatically generate accurate costs for laser cutting that is part of the cost rollup process with the Global Edge system and is utilized for quoting and determining the selection of cost-effective machine tools for shop floor routings.

2.5.01.06 – Machine Material Cut Group (T-579) TableThis section provides functionality to group together the various laser cut speeds defined in Section 2.5.01.05 – Machine Material Sheet Cut for a specific material and thickness. The purpose of grouping together these various cut speeds by material is that if you need to change a specific cut speed for a specific material and thickness, changing a specific value in one group will mass update that same value wherever they match a specific material and thickness without having to individually update this information with each material in a cut group.

Step 14: Return to ASSET menu and select “Find > Machine” option and select ASSET NUMBER “1007” followed by “Tools > Bend” option to display the following screen form and menu options:

2.5.01.11 – Bend Tool Dimension (T-352) TableThis section provides functionality to add and maintain Bend Tool Dimension information to the Bend Tool Sets that were added in Section 2.5.01 – Bend Tool Set.

Step 1: Access SHEET-METAL menu and select “Bend” option to display the following screen form and menu options: Menu Sequence: “Engineering > Engineering Setup / Utilities > Engineering-Set-Up > Sheet-Metal”
